Anton Rueckauf died 1903
« on: Monday 26 July 2010, 11:45 »
In the Hawkins music archive there is a piano quintet by Anton Rueckauf.  Does any one know when and where he was born and what other music he wrote?

http://musicsack.com/PersonFMTDetail.cfm?PersonPK=100416607 - born 1858. (Musicsack is a very useful reference for obtaining some information in these cases, often referred to at IMSLP.)
Also, Worldcat.org lists some piano works opp. 4 and 5 (op. 5 for piano 4-hands). Also see http://books.google.com/books?id=B2gNAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA573
: an opera "Die Rosenthalerin" (1897), a violin sonata. According to _that_ reference, born March 13 1855 (not 1858),  d. September 13 1903.

Some works, longer list (from a search at the site hofmeister.rhul.ac.uk) :
E.g. Op. 1, 3, 6, 11 - lieder, ballads, duets (pub. 1882, 1883, 1888).
Op. 7 - violin sonata in F minor (October 1888.)
Op. 13 - Piano quintet in F (1891).
(Up to 27 opus numbers listed up to 1899, where their database ends.)

Thank you for that. I will attach a note to the printed score and file it away for another 100 years !!!
