Eggert Alert
« on: Sunday 14 June 2009, 11:17 »
The Gavle Symphony Orchestra announced its 2009-2010 concert program.  My favorite unsung, Joachim Eggert (1779-1813), will be performed twice:

Symphony in C-major on September 19th
Symphony in Eb-major on November 20th

I hope to attend one or both of the concerts.

Excellent news Hofrat. I do hope that these live performances will eventually give rise to recordings.
Cheers,

Sounds like a project for Bo Hyttner and Sterling (he often records with the Gävle orchestra)...

Hofrat,

do you by any chance know if this means that the symphonies will be recorded? It's a truly rare occasion when ONE Eggert symphony is being played, and more than one seems to indicate some sort of recording project. Naxos was also thinking of recording Eggert a few years ago.

It is my understanding that the Gavle orchestra is keen on recording Eggert's symphonies.  Whether this will be done concurrently with the fall performances is another story.
