Perhaps we should keep our fingers crossed that the performance of her Piano Trio fares better than her Violin Concerto did (it's a different violinist).  See UC thread from the late summer of 2014 (if you're a bit masochistic.  ;)  )  And the accompanying VS on this upcoming recording is the same op. 1 of that 10+ year old thread.

Well, again, different violinist, no? So, crossing fingers...

Anyhow, this is out now as of 4 days ago- has anyone had a chance to hear it? :)

I listened to it twice today, and still find it difficult to say something sensible about it. The Bruch and Joachim influences are clearly audible at times, I thought I heard a short quote of the Deutschlandlied (then the Austrian anthem) in the first movement of the trio but overall I do find it lacking in personality. Kuyper is at her best when she allows herself some irony and whimsicality. For that reason, the first two movements of the Trio are by far the best bits on this recording. After that, I'm sorry to say, it goes a bit downhill. None of this can be attributed to the performance, which is played with appropriate commitment.
