Just received this new recording from Naxos and I'm overall very happy with it. Yes it has the "Debussy sound" but it also has an Albert Roussel stamp on it. Other than his ballet Bacchus et Ariane I've not had any experience with him. The four movements portray the seasons winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Another underated composer.A bit too 'gritty' for some here?!!
His music has never been 'popular',like Ravel or Debussy.

His 3rd symphony is considered to be his definitive masterwork.  A couple of years back a recording of his 2nd came out which one of our former Raff Forum members, Dr. Leichtling, praised to high heaven.

I rather like his opera,Padmavati. By the way, which recording (of
the 2nd) was that?
