For those with a taste for Jongen, there's a new CD now advertised at jpc with several of his later works: Suite for Viola & Orchestra Op.48, Tableaux pittoresques Op.56, Sarabande triste Op. 58 and Pages intimes Op.55. Nathan Braude is the viola soloist, with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liege conducted by Jean-Pierre Haeck. It's available at the beginning of next month.

Just spotted this myself. Anyone know the music?

Like Alan I too would be curious as to the style of his material.

The Suite is a major work in the viola literature. It's highly lyrical, and a brilliant virtuosic romp in the second (of two) movements. A great piece. Pages Intime and Sarabande Triste are orchestrations of works for piano. I'll be picking that up.

Just been listening to the sound bites. I am already a keen admirer of Jongen's music and this CD is for me a must buy.

Realised yesterday that I already have the Suite - on Centaur. Must listen to it again...

sounds to me like one that I should also be having. Thanks for the description.
