There is also an early symphony in E minor that is, apparently, lost.  Who lost it I cannot say.

I don't know the dates, but off the top of my head I believe he completed two operas, Francesca da Rimini and The Taming of the Shrew.

Thanks, Belapoel, it's always good to have the full picture. Interesting that Eduard Franck completed the orchestration of Francesca da Rimini.

There are going to be two live performances of the Goetz Symphony in F Op.9 this weekend at Bard College by the American Symphony conducted by Leon Botstein.

Alan Howe

Oh, that's good news. Wonder whether it'll turn up as a download-only recording...?

Mark Thomas

It'd be good to have another interpretation preserved.

Goetz's "late" four-hand keyboard sonata is a treasure worth seeking out.

My first encounter with Goetz - as it perhaps was for many people - was an LP on which his piano concerto was coupled with the concerto by Bronsart von Schellendorf, played by Michael Ponti. It is heartening to see that so much of his music, supposedly all his orchestral and chamber works, has since become available on CD.
