Marcel Labey  Born 6.8.1875  Le Versinet  Died  25.11.1968 Nancy

His father was a magistrate and Marcel initially studied law, gaining a doctorate.  Always musical he then studied music at La Schola Cantorum, Paris.  His teachers were Breitner, Delaborde,  Lenormande and the college principal, d'Indy.  He also studied organ under Guilmant.  On d'Indy's death he became director of La Schola. As a composer he is regarded as one of d'Indy's disciples.  Apart from composition, he was a conductor and also a teacher of piano.

I've seen the Op.5 violin sonata (without Op.#), the viola sonata (likewise) and the string quartet op17 @IMSLP but nothing else by him yet... thanks.

Maybe of some interest... BL has Henry Wood's score of the Overture to a Drama, and RAM has the cello/piano score of his Lied for Cello & orchestra. Fleisher has score and parts of the latter.
