The orchestral contribution under Martyn Brabbins on Hyperion is certainly considerably more convincing than that on the rival Hungaroton set, although the soloists are equally good to my ears. However, I continue to find the concerti - all of them - attractive but of no great substance. They seem to me to belong in the same category (i.e. major VCs by violinist-composers) as, say, the lovely concerti by Wieniawski or Vieuxtemps. But I'll go on listening...
