Here is some genuinely welcome news:

Although Herrmann's recording of Raff's 5th isn't among the first re-releases, it can't be far behind. But at least the Mahler 1st and 3rd recordings will be available to a generation who may have missed them.

Not to mention....no more bronzed CDs :D

Thanks to Unicorn, I now know that there was a composer named William Crotch. I don't think his name will replace that of Samuel Scheidt in my affections, but it's worth knowing.

What I really appreciate about this forum is its highbrow discussions.

Quite. High quality at all times.

The other day, our morning presenter on ABC Classical (Australia) - like many before him - noted how awkward it was when announcing music by Scheidt and Fux. Fortunately, he didn't have to play anything by William ('Willie') Crotch or Anton ('Tony') Titz!  :o

OK - sorry - back to adult mode.

It is indeed good news that Unicorn is back.... I wonder if the Dyson LP will become available.
Now, that would put us back onto a more spiritual plane!
