This week the website www.reciclassicat.com has its annual survey of  over 50 unknown 19th Century composers featuring their biographies, compositions, and portraits together with downloads of some 30  musical examples.

Next week, it will be early 20th Century unknowns. I can hardly wait!

What an interesting resource! The focused list of 19th-c. unknown composers with bios is handy indeed. The information shared there must be used with care, though. For example the bio of Franz Benedikt Dussek refers to him as the son of Jan Dussek. Jan Josef Dussek is probably meant, which would make this Franz the younger brother of the great Jan (Ladislav) Dussek -- and incidentally no relation to the well-known symphonist Franz Xavier Dussek.

They're here! More late 19th Century lollipops from lesser known composers including my personal favourite: Silas G. Pratt.
