Hello!

I just received a question about a "similar piece" to the Ysaye violin sonata No.3. Actually that is not my focus, so I can't help personally. But does anyone here maybe know another work for solo violin with the following restrictions: "I want to make a comparison with Ysaye's n.3 sonata for solo violin. This piece is a ballad, with some refrains. Ysaye used the music scale with 6 tones."
The work does not have to be from around 1900, could be also earlier or later. Any suggestions?

Best,
Tobias

I presume it doesn't also have to quote a Bach solo violin work though. Hrm... a ballad based on a 6-tone (or just a different scale) for solo violin...
Wonder if Haba wrote solo violin music- probably...
