Thanks Alan - my copy duly ordered!!

You wait forever for one disc of Nowowiejski's orchestral music (or opera) and 4 come at once. (Not complaining, at all.)

Alan Howe

My copy arrived today. The sound's very good indeed - although there are fairly regular 'blips' which might become annoying on repeated listening. Still, a thoroughly worthwhile investment: although written in 1924, the opera is typical of the composer's earlier rich, late-romantic idiom rather his later, more astringent writing (e.g. Symphonies 2 & 3). And how else is one going to hear the work (apart from on YT, that is)?

Gareth Vaughan

Can you explain what you mean by "blips" please, Alan? Are they stage noise, dropouts or just inexplicable clicks - or something else entirely!

Alan Howe

Gareth Vaughan

Thanks, Alan. I'm afraid I would find that quite annoying and totally unacceptable on a commercial recording.

Alan Howe

...which it isn't, of course. It's essentially a pirate.

Gareth Vaughan

Oh, I didn't realise that. Sorry.
