Alkan - Piano music vol.7

[Jonathan]

And another wonderful recording in Mark Viner's superlative ongoing Alkan series.  This is entitled the "Early works and juvenilia" and is on the Piano Classics label.  I ordered my copy yesterday direct from Mark's website.  It includes a couple of first recordings.

And it's phenomenal!

I agree. Superb playing of amazingly good-quality and technically audacious music (considering Alkan's young age!). It's quite remarkable just how much the composer's music changed after these young formative years, but it's an absolute pleasure to hear these rarely played, very Classical-inspired pieces played to such a high standard by such a keyboard talent as we have in Mark Viner.
