Offenbach's rare Maître Péronilla has been performed at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées in Paris last week-end, with an exciting cast, and will be broadcast later in June.

As this year is the 200th Anniversary of Offenbach's birth, let's hope that we will hear more revivals of his lesser known stage works. He wrote more than 120 of them so there's a treasure trove out there!

The Lyon Opera will present a new production of Barbe-Bleue, staged by Laurent Pelly, who has already (very successfully) staged all the major Offenbachs, and even a few minor ones (Tales of Hoffmann, Belle Hélène, Orphée, Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein, Le Roi Carotte,

I gather this will be broadcast too, and possibly even in video, as Pelly is very popular in France and Europe.
