Piano works which are to be released on June 25:

They are played on a 1908 Bechstein piano that was owned by Wagner's grandson, Wolfgang. There is a bit of an antiquated sound that it lends to the pieces.

I absolutely love the previous Naxos CD with his music as well as a disc that has many of his family (including a mere one of his pieces) but ooof, 'antiquated' sound can get grating. The 'Satie played on an 1890 Erard' or whatever I heard was just hard to listen to.

This is just my opinion after listening to the short samples, but I agree with you. They would not have sounded like that on a new piano at the time, so it can give the wrong impression.
