The Symphony is a stunning work - already available on a first-class Phono Suecia CD from some 20 years ago.

Knowing and enjoying the Symphony for many years from the Swedish (?) CD, I'm very much looking forward to hearing the symphonic poems.

This splendid symphony is available in full on YT, played by Kungliga Filharmoniska orkestern i Stockholm, cond. Mats Rondin, at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRz1-iJdRYo
There's also his 1st and 2nd piano concertos, and cello sonata. A real feast!

Herewith the brief comment on the Ondine release, in June's BBC Music Magazine (p.92):

On this evidence, the Swede Melcher Melchers (1882-1961) joins the list of largely forgotten late-Romantic composers who are well worth exploring. Don't go expecting a spare, Nordic soundworld, as his craft was honed mainly in Paris; do enjoy orchestral colour aplenty and a splendidly uplifting end to the Symphony in D minor. (JP) ++++

The Swedish Musical Heritage site (https://www.swedishmusicalheritage.com/composers/melchers-melcher/?action=composers&composer=melchers-melcher ) provides the following note:

Summary list of works

Orchestral music (symphony, 3 symphonic poems, 2 piano concertos, violin concerto, etc.), chamber music (string quartet, violin sonata, cello sonata, etc.), works for piano (2 variation pieces, 3 dances, etc.), approx. 20 solo songs, 1 cantata.

The 'etceteras' throw a spanner in the works, of course!
