A brief reminder: please keep to the music of Kopylov in this thread. Perhaps someone would like to start a new thread on the Belaiev Circle?

Have just discovered Kopylov's obituary which mentions trio performed just days before his death and piano concerto bequeathed to Glazunov to finish.

I wonder if Glazunov did finish that piano concerto...

There is also another one here:

which is much fun, 'cos it's dedicated almost in its entirety to the sarcastic cursing Belyaev's Circle' nepotism and exclusivity as well as Kopylov's mediocrity.

Gee, I just love opinionated obituaries. (I make exceptions. Of course, the times I'd like to hear an exception are generally the times the NY Times etc. are most likely to be positively hagiographical...)

Edit: Kopylov's 2nd quartet, which I've been acquainted with for quite awhile, gives me a good deal of pleasure and not just because it's in the general neighborhood of Tchaikovsky's lighter music. (Likewise Sokolov's 2nd quartet, btw.)
