Isabella Beaton Born 20.5.1870 Iowa Died 19.1.1929
She was the daughter of a music critic. She initially studied composition under Otis Boise. In Berlin she studied piano under Moszkowski 1894-97 and Emma Koch 1893-4. Following which she went to Paris and studied violin under Bertbelier. Between 1899 and 1910 she taught piano and composition at the Cleveland School of Music, later establishing her own music school there. She had a fine voice and appeared at the Metropolitan Opera.
