Franz Schmidt's 4th symphony adagio.  If I play it once, I will play it two more times in the same playing...just drives me to tears.  The aforementioned Kalinnikov symphonies as well, the epilogue of the Miaskovsky 25th...so many more!  Malito

Suggestions & Problems / Re: Welcome back!
Tuesday 14 August 2012, 02:00
Gentlemen:  I am so pleased to see that you are still in business.  I was bereft at thinking I might lose this wonderful opportunity to continue hearing music I never dreamt I would. I cannot thank you enough.  I do apologize for being a complete idiot with computers.  I have offered a few things like Barisons  and some Cuclin which A.S. had uploaded for me. Believe me when I say htis has meant a GREAT deal to me and given me something to do in what has wound up being a somewhat boring retirement.  Again, thank you so very much.

Wilhelm Berger's music is sometimes good, sometimes not.  I like his 5th symphony and his 10th (for organ and orchestra) quite a bit but the other works are not that interesting.  If you are going to want to hear something by WB try the symphony no. 5 first of all.   You may come up with an entirely different opinion but this is my feeling about his music!

Does anyone have the tempo markings of the Arnic 3rd, 5th or 8th symphonies?  Are there any other Arnic works available?   I'd sure love toknow the tempo markings of the three symphonies I have.  Malito

I got the Sommer Violin Concerto recently and did not jot down the soloist or orchestra/conductor.  Does anyone have that information?  I would appreciate having it.  Thanks, Malito

I love the Kabelac "Mystery of Time" and the new performance is spectacular.  Wish we could get a new performance of the wonderful 4th symphony...thanks to all for the wonderful Czech things this past day or two.  Malito

Thank you so much for the info.  Now I understand.  Atsushi and I trade CDs on occasion and he got me the Soro PC.  I have no idea how to upload CDs so I send things to Atsushi (like the Cuclin 16th and the Barisons 2nd) and ask him to upload them for me as he has.  This is absolutely Christmas every day, or every few hours, having discovered this.  This site has add SO MUCH to my rather boring retirement and I am so happy and grateful I discovered it.  Thank you all who keep people like me almost as busy when I was working.  Malito

there is one thing that bugs me.  I find something I am delirious to get, write all the info on a CD-sized piece of paper, download it, and when I go to make a copy I find it is protecte4d by a password!  Why are things like this protected?  I tried to get the Soro piano concerto today and couldn't...just tried to download the Mignone works only to find that the "Sinfonia do Trabalho" was attainable only with a password and so I could not get the other works available on the same media file.  Couldn''t "pasword" and other reasons for not being able to download something be placed with the dowload section before one goes to all the trouble of trying to add something to one's collection?   I won the musical lottery when I discovered this site but sometimes get frustrated.  Malito

Jacky,

I used to correspond with Liana Alexandra often via e-mail.  Actually, I sent her a package of things I had gotten her in Mexico (my second home) for her birthday about 5 years ago.  There was a time that she and her husband were going to come and visit us in Arizona.  Her music is excellent, too, and she sent me CDs of her 4th, 6th and 7th symphonies as well as a children's opera.  I love her music a lot and I like Nichifor's 1st and 2nd symphony.  But, as I told you already I am a big fan of everything Romanian.  Mal

Well, when I tried to make a CD of the Buttner 1st my program would not allow it as there was too much for one disc so I just downloaded the "first mvt" (32+ minutes) hoping that is the symphony.  Thanks for your help and interest! Malito
