Hi everybody,

Just want to tell you that I will be away the next two weeks, and not having internet connection,
answering messages will have to wait.

Cheers,

minacciosa asked what piano piece was on the file next to the poem.

I deleted the old files and linked it to a new file, with the Poem only.
The piano piece was released on cd (Berlin Classics).
This work was on the same side as the Poem and I simply forgot to delete it from the file.

Sorry,

Downloads Discussion Archive / Ogawa Symphony
Saturday 23 June 2012, 09:28
Hi everybody,

Sicmu offered us earlier this month, in the Japanese folder, Ogawa's symphony "The Castle of Japan'' from the original King recording. He gave us the scan of the lp as well.
As I happen to have the same recording on a lp of the Classic label (a French label) from somewhere in the second half of the 1970s I believe, and I don't think many of the members have enough knowledge of the Japanese language (at least I don't) I like to offer you a scan of the English part of 'Classic' sleeve note.

http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=yebbmmduictbefm

I only scanned the English part, but if French speaking members like to have the French part, please let me know, so I can scan that for you.

Hi everybody,

Most of you know this already, because we discussed it before. But not everyone is informed.
This resulted in a lot of un-necessary re-uploads.

When uploading to Mediafire the maximum size is100MB. Most of my files are in .wav, because of the fact that there is no loss on the sound quality when unpacked. However, this means that the files are too large. So when packed, they have to be split. Rar gives the extension .part!, .part2 etc.
When you unpack them, only part1 should be clicked. The other parts automatically unpack.
When clicking on part2, or higher, you get the notice: corrupt file or something like that.
The part-files must be in the same directory. That's the only necessity.

There are more ways to split a file. Sometimes (f.i. at Rapishare) the extension is .001 .002 etc.
Here another method  has to be used. A program (free of course) like HJSplit restores those extensions. It can split them as well!.

For your conveniance I'll try to give a remark: SPLIT RAR's. Only unpack .part1

Allison offered us the 9th Symphony of  Max Butting

He wondered about movement names or divisions.

The Symphony is in one movement, but in 5 Sätze (parts). These parts are named Allegro ma non troppo; Poco moderato; Allegro vivo; Adagio; Allegro con brio
The symphony has the motto: 'Lebensgeschichte eines Themas'. (History of the Life of a Theme).

This info comes from lp NOVA 8 85 169.
I have to find out if this is another performance (same cond, same orch) than Allsions' upload.
The times differ a little over 2 minutes. In normal circumstances I would tend to 'a different performance', but as many of the NOVA's are simply re-issues of earlier Eterna records this could be the case as well. If it is a different performance I'll give it a new upload.
I'll keep you posted

Hi all,

I was informed that three of my links were faulty ones. I renewed the links.

Belgian folder:
Decadt Monografie
De Vocht: Violin Concerto

Hungarian folder:
Sárai Symphony 1

I'm not sure but I have the feeling that it has to do with "making them clickable"
Most of the times I start downloading the files I posted, to check if they are o.k.
I'm not doing that always, may be I should.

Sorry for the inconvience

Modern music on Unsung Composers.

I've been informed that some of you had problems with some works of eastern-European music I uploaded recently. Among my uploads were some too modern for these pages.
I think I did not pay enough attention to the rules here: Unsung Composers of the Romantic Period.
I saw the the name Unsung, and as I have a collection of records, with a reasonable high percentage of unsungs I found this the platform to be. I really love it when I can help to spread the music, specially so when can do this as legally as we can. And on this platform we do what the majority of the industry fails to do!

I have no formal musical training, so I myself decide what I like and don't like. I'm not influenced by the used technique of compositions. I hardly ever am influenced by what some critics say about the music (well, I hope so). Only my mind decides.
Some of the 'too modern' pieces, you might have noticed, I removed from the site.
But seen my education, were these the ones?, or should I remove most of my uploads. It's all up to you.

In my opinion the beauty of music is: what it does to you; how it feels: feel upraised by it, may be, or it helps you through the darker periods. Exactly what a composer does as well; only he creates the food, and I eat it.  Btw, I'm not eating everything

When I for the first time found UC, and registrated, I saw so many works I only knew from name, or heard, once or partially, somewhere, and not a little number of completely new composers amongst them. With my collection I was able to give you, Uploaders', something back, and I got several 'thank you's' for it.
And, may be, I was to eager to give, that I stepped over your border line. On the other hand I also got a notice by one of you telling me that many works were 'out of his comfort zone' but not everything was 'banned out', or un-listenable. That gives me a good feeling, as it does when I hear a Spohr symphony, or that beautiful concerto from 1834 from the unknown composer , or the unknown symphony from 1999. It's the music that decides, not commerce, not rules, not systems, not time.
For me there's not really a ban on whatever period, although I have only a little interest in the music before the romantic period, with exceptions of course, as I have no interest let's say Stockhausen, or Boulez or electronics. They're works can not grab me. The same for  most avant garde works. The last ones I can't follow, the first ones are to static for me.

But, as I said before: you decide if you like more uploads from my side. As for me, you're not out, whatever you decide, because so many romantic hidden composers and works from the later period, /I like to hear at least once. For all your uploads I thank you.

Nowing what a lot of work has to be done to sustain this side, we have to thank the moderators for their job.

Best regards,

Suggestions & Problems / Indexes to Countries
Friday 11 May 2012, 09:07
Good Morning Moderators,

When I look at The Downloads, we start with a couple of stickied files with indexes.
Wouldn't it be better if we started a new topic in stead called Indexes to countries (or something similar)?

Only one sticky file left in the The Downloads mentioning Indexes on Countries makes is more overseeableb I think.

Greetings

Suggestions & Problems / Opening multi-RAR files
Wednesday 02 May 2012, 08:45
INFO ABOUT SPLITTED RAR-FILES

When a file is too large for Mediafire, there is a need to split the RAR's in parts. You can either make mp3's, or zip/rar the files to shrink the file. Most of the time I choose for the last mentioned method, because of the quality of the music-file.

When you like to open the file, you only need to un-rar the first file, the following parts will automatically unfold as well. The only restriction is that the second part must be in the same directory.

The program I use to un-rar is the free programme Rarzilla.

Greetz,

Elroel
