Thanks for sharing your recording of this splendid piece, PJ.

The mezzo-soprano soloist in this performance was Janet Baker and two parts for soprano soloists were taken by Morag Cross and Elizabeth MacLean.

:)

Thank you - I've added the info to the download information. You'd think I'd recognise Dame Janet..... :-[

Thank you for the information about the concert from which the Oldham Psalms came. Most grateful. I remember going to my digs and turning on the radio just before the Psalms started, and didn't hear the rest of the concert.

A little personal information about the work. I had a friend who was a talented musician, organiser and conductor in the UK, and played him the tape and made a copy. Subsequently, he went to Paris and worked with Arthur Oldham, got the parts, and conducted the Psalms in Paris and in the UK, I think - unfortunately, I was working and couldn't attend any of the concerts.

A recording from Chandos would be very welcome.

Yes, my apologies. I've discovered all the remixshare files have vanished.

New today, on mediafire,

Arthur Oldham - Psalms in Time of War

recorded off-air nearly 35 years ago, and my enthusiasm for this piece remains undiminished and it still raises goosebumps.

I was unable to get through to a complaints department at BT, and was told you need to write in. Would I like the address?

By the way, a number of BT operatives told me this morning, and I quote, "We do not block" before suggesting the problem was of my own making. I can only assume many others have contacted BT this morning and that the penny eventually dropped.

Having tried and failed only ten minutes ago with the chap from Delhi's assistance, I've just tried again and it is back to normal, unblocked.

Thank, Richard Moss, I was going to give up on it until I'd been out and had a cup of coffee.

BT has just rung me - yes, there is a problem affecting not just me, and they're sorry, it's going to take some time to sort out.

BT has been singularly arrogant and unhelpful.

1. I'm not allowed to complain even though I'm a BT customer - only mediafire can.

2. If mediafire contacted them last Friday, they wouldn't look at the problem until next Wednesday.

Welcome back to the 1970s.

I've just heard from mediafire:

"Your ISP is currently blocking file downloads on our site.  We heard about this issue several days ago and responded appropriately, but were instructed that it may take some time for them to unblock us.  At this point there is nothing more we can do, but you might be able to get them to hurry things up by contacting your ISP directly."

Ah, my leetle grey cells told me it was BeeTee. Miss Lemon, take a lettair. Dear BeeTee...

Depending on mediafire's response, I'll contact BT.

Mediafire offers cloud storage for one's personal files -  I would be able to send files there, but not retrieve them which does defeat the aim of the process.

Meanwhile, I've had confirmation from the US and Russia that mediafire is functioning perfectly there so it may well be just a UK problem where access to the server has a problem or is being blocked deliberately.

@MarkThomas - clicking on "download" tries to send the message to mediafire's servers, doesn't get through, and goes round in a loop.

Error message:

"504 Gateway Time-out

The server didn't respond in time."

I have sent a ticket to mediafire and hope to get a reply tomorrow or Tuesday.

Is it really only suffolkcoastal and I who have this download problem in the UK?

There is a problem with mediafire in at least two parts of the UK. I am wondering currently whether mediafire is being blocked by BT.

I can't even download my own files.

Tried:

switching off firewall temporarily
used Chrome, IE, Firefox, Opera

JDownloader tells me my plugins are out of date, but that's their generic excuse.
