Title: Feliks Nowowiejski - Quo vadis
Post by: markniew on Friday 16 September 2011, 19:56
In the download section (Polish music) there is a link to the Feliks Nowowiejski's Quo vadis oratorio (1903/09).

It is based on the novel by the Polish Nobel prize winner of 1904 Henryk Sienkiewicz.
The composition was to some extent famous worldwide (let say so) in the beginning of 20th century. The premiere of the revised version was given in Amsterdam in 1909 and then the piece was presented many times in different cities. Nowadays rather rarity in repertoire of Polish orchestras. Music lovers here may perhaps know the gem of it - March from the first scene (ca. 11:30').
It might be interesting for the fans of lesser-well known music.
off-radio recording of 2006
