Louise Farrenc is currently the 'Composer of the Week' on the ABC classical station.
Good to see an Unsung Composer being promoted.

She was a terrific composer.

Yes, indeed.  :)

The promo for the series emphasized that she was unusual, among women at that time, in having enjoyed the wholehearted support of her family to pursue her career, which she chose when a child. I wonder how many UCs were so fortunate in that regard.

And her husband's support as well.  He seems to have decided early on that his talent was no match for his wife's and turned himself into a music publisher (who of course published her works). 

Plus as a professor for piano at the conservatoire she fought for--and eventually obtained--equal pay with her male colleagues.  Quite a feat in the 19th century!
