Thank you to Christopher for the lovely piece by Artur Kapp, from his Oratorio Job. Heaven knows what function it serves in such a work, but it certainly is sweet on the ears!
I am glad you enjoy! It is certainly the most played piece on my player, by sung or unsung. As I understand it, Kapp actually wrote it as a stand-alone piece years before he wrote the Job oratorio, but it came to be incorporated into that oratorio as a mid-way non-choral section, played by violin+organ. Indeed, its original version is for violin+organ - I'll post that up too when I get a moment. It's also lovely. The entire oratorio is a real masterpiece, I have fantasies about it being performed at the Proms (in an evening of Estonian late-Romantic music) - I know this will never happen of course! But it has all the ingredients - large orchestra, large choir, organ, drama....
