Here's a little gem to chew on this December. Wish I had this on Ondine or BIS. Anyway enjoy!!
Ernst Linko (1889-1960)
Piano Concerto No. 2 in E Major, Op. 10
Ernst Frederik Linko [formerly Lindroth] (1889-1960) is a Finnish composer. Between 1911-1914 he studied composition and music theory in Berlin and St. Petersburg, and in the years 1924-1925 in Paris. His work includes four piano concertos (1916, 1920, 1931, 1957) and a "Symphonie chevaleresque" (1949).
This work is the "Piano Concerto No. 2 in E major" (1918-20).
This 1918-20 work has been mentioned a few times in the past btw , see e.g. http://www.unsungcomposers.com/forum/index.php/topic,1695.0.html (http://www.unsungcomposers.com/forum/index.php/topic,1695.0.html). The Mediafire upload to our "downloads" section is no longer available though.
Now, I wish somebody would do the other 3!
And release them in an "honest-to" commercial CD/stream, not just a broadcast over Euroclassic Notturno/Finnish Radio/etc. Indeed. Though I don't know them so I don't even know if the others are definitely within our remit :) (especially as he died in 1960.) (Actually, what source is it that gives Linko four piano concertos? :) OIC- Finnish Wikipedia. Hrm. ... what's their source... will have to ask...)
