Title: Charles O'Brien Chamber Music from Toccata
Post by: Sharkkb8 on Monday 19 March 2018, 20:30
Charles O'Brien's symphony was well received in these parts a while back, now listeners will get the chance to hear some of his chamber music - Vol. 1, from Toccata.  Two piano trios, or "sonatas for fortepiano, violin and cello" as he called them, as well as a couple of waltzes.  To be released (without portent, one hopes) on April Fool's Day.  ::)

Thanks for drawing our attention to this release. The music is sweet and it's good to have these works on disc, as an addition to Toccata's O'Brien series. It's a pity that the acoustic is rather 'boxy' and old-fashioned - or is that just me being picky?

Actually, Sharkkb8, this very welcome release (and the other new Toccata releases) is on 30 March and thereby misses April Fool's Day! But for those impatient to get any of these discs they have now come into Toccata from the manufacturer, and Toccata is always happy to send them to private individuals before the official 'release' day.

But are you happy with the sound quality, Peter?
For me, it reduces the likelihood that I would purchase the disc.
