The second mexican symphony was composed by Carrillo. Premiered with great sucess in Gewandhaus around 1901. It has the Schumann's heritage with mexican elements. Really is a great work.
Very soon will be avalaible with the performance of the OSSLP conducted by José Miramontes Zapata.
Carrillo borned in 1875, same year of Ravel, Max d'Ollone, Gliere, Melartin, etc
Thank you Aramiarz! Your work for unsungs is greatly appreciated!
David
Excellent news!
This wonderful Symphony and two charming suites will be available the next month.
Wonderful! Thanks for the update!
Great news from Mexico. For my Discography of Symphonies can you tell me the label and catalogue number as well as the names of the two suites that will be on this CD? Many thanks Aramiarz .
In the Cd is the symphony in four movements, the Theme with variations for orchestra and "First suite for orchestra". The symphony was dedicated to Porfirio Díaz, president of México around 30 years. He was dictator but supported the culture. He sent to Carrillo for studied in Leipzig.
Many thanks for this information. May we also know the label and catalogue number?
It'll be on Sterling, Mike. I'll make sure you're informed as soon as the details are made public. The CD's not out yet.
Sorry dear friends! Sterling CDS-1107-2, no problem for the info. Bo was charmed with this cd!
The LP from 60's was poor distribution... He never saw this symphony.
Thanks! Can you give us details of the orchestra and conductor, please?
Conductor: José Miramontes Zapata
Orchestra: OSSLP (San Luis Potosí symphonic orchestra)
;)
Great, thanks!
Dear Aramiarz,
Greatly appreciate the details about the Carrillo CD. Good luck with this and all your future recordings.
All the best,
Michael
Thank you dear friends, in octubre will have Moór. Moreover in mid-august Norway Culture council will gave us news about support for Haarklou project. Goethe Institute in Mexico didn't support for Scharwenka Phillipp.... :'(
Yay Moór- I hope someone will have more of a look at more of his music- maybe his symphonies?
I'm very keen to hear more Moór :D
I'd love to see Castro's 1st given a decent recording.
Very good news regarding Moor and Haarklou. Shame about Philipp Scharwenka. We must try to get someone interested in his VC.
Yes, that's excellent news. Thanks, Aramiarz!
N.B. I have started a new thread on the forthcoming Moór release.
Here is the CD as included in the discography at the orchestra's website:
Still no sign of its release, though...
This wonderful cd is available in:

When Carrillo wrote it was a consumated Master, great use of the orchestral colours and horns part very difficult!
Hi Aramiarz,
Have you any news about a possible release date in Europe? Thanks!
Just as an aside, I see courtesy of You Tube that although Sterling seems to regard it as a 'world premiere', the symphony may have been issued on LP many years ago, with the composer conducting L'Orchestre Lamoureux - although I can't find out on what label (Eric? ;)).
It's strange that a work such as this, if it did appear on LP, then just disappeared from view. It will be good to have the new CD.
This LP had poor distribution. Bo of Sterling said me that never saw it in no one catalogue since 60's!! This Cd has two interesting orchestral works, Theme with variations and Suite. Saloon music charming and well crafted in french Style. I have pieces, maybe If You have interest, I can send you one item
My copy has just arrived from Records International. First impressions of the 1st Symphony (1901) are of a conservative idiom with a veritable cornucopia of gorgeous melodic writing, beautifully scored. More when I've had the time to absorb the piece, but it is evident straight away that this is precisely the sort of music that Sterling does so well.
Dear Alan, thank you for your opinion! When you can share me about the Theme and variations And The Suite
The old recording on YouTube suffers rather from awful sonics, particularly if the dynamics exceed piano. It will be good to have a modern recording. Is it available anywhere as a download for the CD-disapproving citizen?
Dear Ilja. It's not available for download
At all, or just not yet?
Probably at all, knowing Bo. >:(
True, true.
;D
Sterling's attitude to downloads has been ... inconsistent, I would say.
Not for me then, I fear.
now available for streaming over NML, by the way. And listed at MDT (http://www.mdt.co.uk/carrillo-julian-orchestral-works-orquesta-potosi-jose-miramontes-zapata-sterling.html), release date May 5.
Dear friends, have you more opinions about this interesting symphony? Very soon the Carrillo's second Symphony!
