Composers & Music / Re: Unsung...Schumann?

Another Schumann work which I can't find any commercial Recording is Adventlied Op. 71, although a choral piece, though there is a video on Youtube.

Donizetti was defenitely not an unsung composer, but a large part of his operas are quite unsung--I've seen that his second opera Enrico di Borgogna was performed in this August and broadcasted by the Swedish Radio on September 15th. I'm wondering is there anyone who has recorded it and would like to share here?

My friend and I are preparing to have a try on this sonata, and we need a recording for reference. The only recording I can find is an LP played by Boye Hansen and Dahl-Hansen, but we don't have an LP player. I'm wondering if anybody hear has this or other recordings of this sonata and share with me? (I know it could not go to the Downloads, but could a message to me work? If not, please just delete my post.)

Recordings & Broadcasts / Re: Huber Violin Sonatas again

So, now we have CD versions of No. 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 of Huber's Violin Sonatas?

Well, I don't think piano is a good substitution on The Butterfly Lovers. In China this piece has been arranged for many traditional instruments like erhu or gaohu, even chinese flutes, and they are much better.

I think the piece is to hard to be a repertoire piece at least in concert halls.

Serenades by Robert Fuchs and Karlowicz will be good.

I think Bax's instrumentation is impressive enough, though his style is a little bit monotonous.

Composers & Music / Re: French Piano Quintets

Giles:
Could you please detail your excellent list a little bit, like the composing date and the opus number of some less known quintets? I can't find information for some works that you listed.

Le Flem's Piano Quintet is constructed mostly following Franck's example, with adoption of folk tunes from Brittany, the composer's hometown.

Composers & Music / French Piano Quintets

I'm now working on an essay on French piano quintets, and I'll be quite happy to hear any ideas of such works, especially for the unsung masterpieces like Castillon or Florent Schmitt's!

Recordings & Broadcasts / Re: Klughardt Chamber Music
Monday 06 August 2012, 18:33
I got this volume from Amazon Mp3 yesterday. The performance of the String Quartet is fine but the work is not quite interesting and imaginative, and I think Klughardt's employ of fugal sections are not convincing enough in many of his chamber music. The Piano Quintet recorded in this CD is not as good as the MDG CD, although not bad. I will keep waiting for any companies to record his String Sextet.

Recordings & Broadcasts / Re: Constantino Gaito on CPO

Gaito's two string quartets have been recorded too, and the second one, Op. 33 "Incaico", which used Native American melodies is quite interesting. The three works in this new CD are kind of conservative compare to that quartet, but contain some very fine ideas, and the cello sonata is my favorite too. Hope CPO can keep focusing on late-romantic Latin American music!

Is there any information of the next volumes?
