I do hope you all enjoy this all premiere recent recording of song cycles and folksongs by Alun Hoddinott.
Featuring soprano Claire Booth, tenor Nicky Spence and pianist Andrew Mathews-Owen in some very beautiful music. 3 fine young performers who are committed to every note.

Recommended Recording of the Month in Gramophone and first class essay notes from Geraint Lewis with song texts:

Bravo for taking up the flag for Hoddinott.
I am a big fan of this composer, ever since hearing his Proms commission Star Children in the late 80s at the RAH.

Might I add to your list what was described recently in a review as his 'most important work for voice and piano':
'Towy Landscape' (words John Dyer), a quasi-cantat commissioned by soprano Claire Booth and pianist Andrew Matthews-Owen in 2006, which they subsequently recorded to critical acclaim on this Gramophone Recommendation of the Month CD 'Landscapes: Song Cycles and Folksongs'

It has brought me much pleasure. Booth and her pianist are very fine advocates and the tenor cycles, and folk songs (the latter using English translation by Hoddinott's wife Rhiannon) are very atmospheric and thought provoking.

Beautiful John Piper cover too:
