Oper Wuppertal is showing a joint performance of Schönberg's "Erwartung" and Smyth's "Der Wald". A very positive review can be read in the German version of VAN magazine (subscription required but two articles per month can be read for free).

The British Record Shop Archive has more information, photos and even a link to an interview with Harold Moores. I remember venturing in the basement about 25 years ago in search of that surprisingly rare thing, a recording of 'Peter and the Wolf' with Russian narration – and I found it!

As part of the Peter Cornelius festival in Mainz, Germany, to celebrate the bicentenary of the composer's birth (and 150 years since his death), there will be an exhibition about him, and also an international conference about opera in Germany in the mid 19th century. Details here. To round off the conference, there will be a performance of Cornelius's opera "Gunlöd" on 25 May.

Carl Amand Mangold's opera "Gudrun" will be performed in a semi-staged production in Darmstadt on 26 May 2024, for the first time in 175 years.

Just to be clear: this German staging is a different production, and there is no information about a possible recording of this production (yet).

The Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Germany is showing the first staged production of "Fausto" by Louise Bertin since its premiere in Paris in 1831.

Somehow, somewhere I had come across his name but had never heard any of his really rather attractive music. There is a Rudolf Moser Stiftung, the website has biographical and discographical information and downloadable work lists etc.

Oh I do agree about the SPMK CD. I only got my copy the day before yesterday but I have listened to it three times already...

Thank you, Mark. I think I may have found out what it could be: I normally use a VPN (ExpressVPN) and perhaps there is something there that makes the VPN and the UC website somewhat incompatible. I never had this problem until a couple of weeks ago, though, so UC worked fine with the VPN on.
I could also try getting support from ExpressVPN, I have found their customer service to be just that, real customer service. Failing that, I will have to remember to de-activate the VPN before posting...

Over the past couple of weeks I sometimes got the error message below when I clicked on 'Unread Posts' or tried to post something myself. Could it be a login problem, and has anyone else come across this message? It has become more frequent recently.
