Sorry, Mark! I placed this under "Problems" because it concerned the technical matters of the site.

The Rondo and Symphonies 1 and 2 are certainly impressive. The later two symphonies, though masterfully written, suffer a bit from over-elaboration to my mind. A change from Straussian opulence to Schönbergian austerity. (No, I am not against modernism in general but I think that it was achieved at the expense of individuality in many cases.)

I have seen that Thomas Schmidt-Kowalski has been discussed at this board - though he is still living and composing happily!
Therefore I would like to put another living composer on the map: Ian Venables

He was born in 1955 and could be described as a latter day romantic. There is certainly nothing post-modernist about his sincere music.
I was lucky to do a thorough by-ear-analysis of his masterful Piano Quintet some year ago. His workmanship is beyond question and the quality of his inspiration never falters.
If you like Finzi, Howells and Barber try out Venables. Songs and chamber music have been issued by naxos, SOMM and Signum.

I would love to hear Robin Milford's VC op.47 of 1937. Dutton has done so much putting the minor masters back on the map. When will they start with Milford?

New World Records has released his symphony "The Ornithological Combat of Kings" and a weird choral work "Philanthropy", both still available through amazon.
A few years ago Deutschlandradio Kultur broadcast a concert by the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz conducted by Howard Griffith. They announced that the three works played would soon be realeased by CPO but so far nothing has been heard about it. If you like I will try to upload the whole concert - including an interview with H.G. and a portrait of Father Heinrich - in GERMAN.. 

Oh no! I missed the show... 
Anyway, I don't even know if BBC television has an online service.
Has anyone recorded the feature? Or knows about plans to release a DVD?
