Title: Ludovit Rajter
Post by: Syrelius on Wednesday 30 March 2011, 06:44
There has been some discussion about the new Pejacevic CD. However, CPO has simultaneously released a CD with music by her younger countryman Ludovit Rajter. According to CPO he worked "in spätromatischer Tradition". From the soundclips on their homepage it seems that he moves stylistically somewhere between the late romantics and composers like Kabalevsky. Has anyone heard the CD? Impressions?

... is this the conductor Ludovit Rajter, a Franz Schmidt pupil I think who gave more or less the first complete cycle of that composer's symphonies on an Opus set of CDs I think, among other things in his discography? Should have suspected he composed like many another conductor- anyhow- go on- sorry.

Ludovit Rajter was a Slovak while Dora Pejacevic was a Croatian. So they were countrymen only in the sense that they were both born in the Austro-Hungaian Empire. Nevertheless, congratulations to CPO for continuously unearthing forgotten composers.
