Title: Carl Grammann (1842–1897)

Carl (or Karl) Grammann was a German composer born in Lübeck in 1842 (sources citing 1844 appear to be incorrect). He was active mainly in Dresden, where he died on January 30, 1897. There are no recordings of his music that I know of, but his oeuvre looks impressive on paper: two symphonies, eight operas, a violin concerto, plenty of piano and chamber music. It appears that Grammann was quickly forgotten after his death, as according to one necrology he was not particularly interested self promotion or in the critical reception of his music, choosing to compose music for music's sake first and foremost.

From a limited choice of scores found on IMSLP at the moment, I thought the short and sweet Albumblatt, Op. 47 for violin and piano would make for a pleasant offering. From what I gather, Grammann was often cited with having a particular gift for melody in his music.
