Title: Lyapunov 2nd Symphony
Post by: Christopher on Friday 26 August 2011, 00:50
Does anyone know if there is another recording of Lyapunov's 2nd Symphony other than the Evgeny Svetlanov and USSR Symphony Orchestra.  Without anything to compare it with, or a score to follow, that version sounds as if it's all over the place, especially in the first movement. But the piece nevertheless sounds like a good symphony...

There is another Svetlanov, released not too long ago, with the Orchestra of Radio France

Worldcat lists a 4-disc CD set released on BMG in 1988 containing a Mravinsky recording. I would guess that Chandos might be following their disc of symphony 1 up with one of the 2nd sometime soon, perhaps Naxos might record it too?

I have both of those recordings. Unfortunately, they are both Svetlanov. Waiting for a recording by a better conductor.
