Title: John Ireland's First Rhapsody from Naxos
Post by: M. Henriksen on Thursday 29 September 2011, 14:40
I know the headliner on this Naxos disc is Ireland's Piano Concerto, but the work that caught my eye is the First Orchestral Rhapsody in F sharp minor from 1906. This doesn't seem to be a premiere recording, so who have recorded this work before?
And have any of our members heard it?

Sorry, my mistake. It's not for orchestra but for Piano solo. That's all clear then!

still leaves me curious whether it's been recorded even in one of the "Complete Piano Works" recordings - I'm not even sure of that... (ah, it's on Parkin's first disc on Chandos.)

The rhapsody seem to appear on the 1st volume of piano works on Chandos, and also on a disc from British Music Label.
