Well, here it is, folks: more Vieuxtemps. This time it's the first two concertos with Chloe Hanslip: http://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dc.asp?dc=D_CDA67878&vw=dc (http://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dc.asp?dc=D_CDA67878&vw=dc). Also included is the Greeting to America, Op. 56. Is that the same as the Souvenir d'Amerique, AKA Yankee Doodle Variations?
Souvenir d'Amerique is about 5 minutes, at least in the La Pieta recording (arranged? Not sure).
But anyway, check out the liner notes: ". Vieuxtemps had in fact dealt with this well-known tune before, in his Souvenir d'Amérique, Variations burlesques sur 'Yankee Doodle', Op 17, but the bravura variations in the present work are not related to that earlier set."
So no.
