Great news!  I hope it is as enjoyable as Sym 1 & PC, which I already have.  Do you know if there are any arrangements for it to be recorded?

Best wishes

Richard

That's fantastic news, Ros. And thanks for all that you have done in promoting Sgambatis' music.

Are the performances of Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma broadcast?

If the Second Symphony is on or close to the level of the fantastic First, I'd love to hear it! Sgambati's synthesis of German and Italian influences is so compelling and enjoyable. Great job promoting his music! :)

Thank you for all your interest and comments - I'm very happy that so many people share my enthusiasm for Sgambati's music :) Let's hope that we can encourage more orchestras and conductors to perform the work.
The second symphony has been recorded by La Vecchia and the orchestra of Rome but Naxos do not have a release date for it yet.
The quality of the second symphony is in my opinion much higher than that of the first symphony. The first movement is strong and likeble, the second movement is a scherzo that is quite quirky in style with a trio section featuring a neapolitan style melody played by horns and trumpets, the third movement is slow with a long melody played by the Cor Anglais, the fourth movement is rumbustious and the most interesting of all: It begins fairly conventionally but after reaching a point of indecision, takes off with seemingly unstoppable enthusiasm, energy and brilliance.

For anybody who has not yet heard samples of the symphony,
you can hear some of the second movement here:

and some of the 4th movement is here
