Title: Charles de Balorre
Post by: eschiss1 on Sunday 05 October 2014, 01:24
does anyone know anything to speak of about this composer? Aside from what I know of his compositions (one clarinet quintet pub.ca.1900 uploaded to IMSLP dedicated to his wife (I think) the "Vicomtesse" (so perhaps Charles Count de Balorre...), a couple of other works), I recall finding out very little at all, but maybe someone here has heard/seen/... something- seems worth asking, at any rate.

I was able to find some more information. Charles Frédéric Jules Imbert de Balorre (1854-1927) was indeed an offspring of an old noble French family. He is listed among the scions of Hugues Capet (around 940-996), king of Francs, founder of the Capetian dynasty which ruled France until 19th century. He married countess Marie Lucie Camille Adolphine de Cossart d'Espiés (1858-1940). Very succinct bio and catalogue here: http://composers-classical-music.com/b/BalorreCharlesDe.htm (http://composers-classical-music.com/b/BalorreCharlesDe.htm).
