Here's one for opera lovers:
Myklos Arkas: Kateryna (1890)
This opera is the first Ukrainian lyric folk opera. The composer Arkas ( 1853-1909) also wrote a History of Ukraine. Very topical... very interesting.
Broadcast tonight on Radio Slovenia ... see Operacast for details.
Any chance of this being recorded?
Can't record it myself today, unfortunately, but if somene else could that would be great.
Despite my efforts, I failed to record this too.
Did any tech-savvy, opera-tragic manage to accomplish this feat.
Berlin Expat, where are you when we really need you?
For those who are unaware, this opera has been recorded. The disc, which is a CD-Rom with MP3 tracks, also contains Heorhiy Mayboroda's opera Mylana. The CD looks like this - http://www.kniga.ru/music/479384 (http://www.kniga.ru/music/479384) . I would of course offer to upload it here but that would be against the site's rules, even though this CD-Rom itself is a blatant lift from an old Soviet Melodiya LP! :)
Here's more glad tidings: Kateryna is to be broadcast on the ABC on Sunday at 9.00 p.m. local time.
Now, I've no excuse for missing it!
