Title: Wagner Symphony in C
Post by: Alan Howe on Friday 20 February 2015, 18:54
...has just been released in a really splendid, vigorous performance by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under that underrated conductor Edo de Waart on Challenge Classics. Of course it's all very Beethovenian, but I have always enjoyed early Wagner and this is as good a performance as it's ever had. And at 43 minutes all repeats must have been observed (I'm guessing).

The same (about the repeats) I would guess about a 1981 (in Lp era) recording by Heinz Roegner and the Rundfunk- Sinfonie Orchester Berlin (Berlin Classics). It lasts 40' 37". That I own  in a 1999 re-release on Cd coupled to a slow Siegfried Idyll , lasting 22' 20" (Roegner again conducting).
