It's all blood and thunder with some strenuous writing for voices. The problem? An almost complete lack of tunes. A pity, but one can understand why Bruneau's music disappeared. It's stirring, often exciting, but nothing sticks in the memory. Still, it doesn't cost much to sample...
...oh and, by the way, the performance is well sung. There were some very fine French-speaking singers around in the post-war period.
