Title: Norbert Burgmuller
Post by: JimL on Sunday 11 July 2010, 01:46
KUSC just played the Burgmuller 2nd Symphony (sans reconstructed finale).  I now see why he is so highly thought of.  I may pick up that disc of his two symphonies.  I was wondering if there is one of his Op. 1 Piano Concerto in F# minor.

P.S. Jim Svejda is going to be doing an entire program of Karlowicz at 9 P.M. PDT tonight.  It's a repeat of last Sunday's show.  Bunch of tone poems and the VC.

There seem to be two recordings at least of the piano concerto - one on MDG (with the second symphony), and an older one on Koch Schwann (with works by Schumann).

Great!  Koch Schwann!  Just what I needed!  Two Burgmuller 2nds to get one PC, or looking to see if someone has the KS on Amazon for a reasonable price while ditching the 1st Symphony altogether!  Oh well, one doesn't tune into the Weather Channel expecting nothing but good news! >:(
