Title: Tailleferre: 4 Short Operas
Post by: mikehopf on Sunday 17 April 2016, 00:19
Tonight on France Musique, four short comic operas ( Du style galant au style mechant ) by Germaine Tailleferre.

" In these she recreated with delight and typical consumate craftmanship the styles of the  18th century, the Romantic Period, Offenbach and naturalism a la Bruneau"
- Groves Dictionary of Opera

Yes, but these scores are "post 1918"....  ;)   :P And they are not, by far, the most interesting among Tailleferre's output.

These (tonight's broadfcast) are old archives from the French Radio.
BUT, the Limoges Opera did a stage show a couple years ago integrating these four 1-act operas, and a DVD has been released :

"Post-1918" is a guideline. What we ask members to do is to think hard before they post about music written after this date. So, for example, Joseph Marx fits our criteria, but Honegger doesn't. And if in doubt, we ask members to contact us first before posting.
