Title: Mascagni: Iris (from Montpellier)
Post by: Wheesht on Monday 29 August 2016, 08:16
Last Saturday, various German radio stations broadcast Mascagni's Iris, from Montpellier - the concertante performance from 26 July. I have recorded it and listened to parts (haven't had time for the entire broadcast yet), and I'd be interested in other UC members opinions if anyone heard it as well.

Might you consider uploading your recording, please?

Suppose it will be with cuts, as usual up there in Montpellier...

I might indeed consider uploading my recording, but as it was made on my satellite receiver, it comes in the awkward .ts format and I will first need to convert it to something more manageable, so I'll need some time...

As for the cuts, the total length is about 130', so it may well have been cut.

The 1989 Patané recording with Domingo and Marton runs for 124 minutes, so perhaps it's a same (apparently) uncut version.

Not Eva Marton, thank goodness, but Ilona Tokody (a Renata Scotto sound-alike).

The tenor at Montpellier, by the way, was Andrea Carè - a good, strong singer, but no Domingo. Still, it should be an interesting listen...
