It seems that a new recording of Marteau's Violin Concerto is on the way.
In 2017 Nicolas Koeckert recorded the concerto with the Deutsche Radio-Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern (near my hometown).

Very toothsome indeed! Release date: 26.10.2018; label: Solo Musica.
Yes. Gorgeous. A must buy, I think.
Great concerto from a great violinist/composer! Ingolf Turban recorded Marteau's 24 Caprices not too long ago, I believe a live recording will be released soon.
Several of his works including the violin and cello concertos (iirc) were uploaded here some while back, and matesic recorded his 3 string quartets for IMSLP (which I enjoyed) - I expect very good things from Marteau's music already :)
...now forthcoming (2nd November):

Why did this piece need to be "re-orchestrated by Raoul Grunels"? Is the full score missing? Best, David
Apparently the score has been lost for several decades. There existed only a (cut) recording from the 1970s and the piano reduction, so the conductor on the recording, Raoul Grüneis, has made a reconstruction from these. For those who can read German, the full story is to be found here:

so the parts available for rent from Steingraber are based on his reconstruction?
ah, yep. just saw a google image of the title page of Steingräber Edition number 2284. Reorchestrated by Raoul Gruneis yep.
Thanks, most interesting.
This is a truly marvellous work - and, at 48 minutes - up there with the Elgar and Reger for length and expressive range. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to play.
One of the unsung finds of 2018, for sure.

Do we know if the score was lost after the Werner Andreas Albert radio recording from the mid-1970s?
