I believe most of the pieces are premiere recordings. A pity this generously filled CD will be the last in this set.

On the one hand, kinda lame compared to the fact they made full sets of Josef and Strauss Sr. (and Jr. of course, but that's perhaps a bit different).

On the other, it means I can just buy the CD instead of picking and choosing digitally...

Nice to see that the conductor is John G.. He has long been a favourite of mine, mostly because of his strong presence in the CBSO and LSO at a time when I was becoming immersed in classical music, and through his frequent 'appearances' on BBC Radio 3. The overview of his musical life at his website is quite revealing.
