Next month one of the BIS new releases is JW Wilms piano concertos, volume 1 (https://bis.se/performers/brautigam-ronald/johann-wilhelm-wilms-the-piano-concertos-vol-1).

I already have his op 12, and had decided against purchasing the op.3 some time ago, because ,pretty as the Rondo is, there is nothing Romantic about the concerto. My brief impressions of the op.26 leave me rather on the fence.  I might sit this one out, much as I admire his later works.

These concertos are charming and well mannered, if not all of them are thoroughly "Romantic". However, what might prove a greater deterrent to their purchase for some people is the use on this recording of a period piano.

I like the works, but my ears cannot cope with period pianos, so no purchase by me!
