Post by: 4candles on Tuesday 19 July 2022, 15:34
Rarely heard works by Ryelandt, Soulage, Foote and Bantock on this recording from MSR Classics, 'available' from 5 August:

1919 Viola Sonatas - Hidden Treasures from an Epoch Year (https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/9316904--1919-viola-sonatas-hidden-treasures-from-an-epoch-year)

Music sounds quite approachable, but the acoustic is odd. It sounds to me like the viola is toward the back of a rather cavernous room, or empty concert hall!

It does sound rather odd. I'm not sure about the violist either. I think this might grate after a while.
