These are coupled not with Franck's Violin Sonata, but with his 'Mélancolie' for violin & piano from 1886.
Marcel Dupré's Violin Sonata turns out to be late-romantic and pretty chromatic in character but, unlike many works of this type, it has memorable themes throughout. It's shocking to discover that this is its first recording.
The Dupré Violin Sonata is a great work; it has been recorded before (https://www.discogs.com/release/20530735-Marcel-Dupr%C3%A9-Rolande-Falcinelli-Jason-Peter-Meyer-Oeuvres-de-Marcel-Dupr%C3%A9), but never released on CD. I have the LP and a very generous friend is digitising it. I'll place it on YouTube once I have the files and try to remember to post the link here.
cheers,
Daniel
The new recording of the Dupré has already been posted on YouTube.
