Title: Emánuel Moór - Serenade for Strings (1881)
Post by: Reverie on Sunday 27 October 2024, 21:07
The Serenade for Strings was Emánuel Moór's first score for larger forces outside of chamber music. Composed at the age of 18 it shows maturity and promise for the future.

Thanks, Martin. Anything by Moór is of great interest.

There's also a performance of this work - not a full string orchestra, but not synthesized - by Steve's Bedroom Band here (https://imslp.org/wiki/Serenade_for_String_Orchestra%2C_Op.16_(Mo%C3%B3r%2C_Emanuel)).

Reverie: did you go with Adagio or Andante in the slow movement?

More of an Andante - think it needs to keep moving?

It's almost certain one of those indications (either the one in the score or the one in the parts) is a typo, after all, and absent at the moment the autograph or something to decide between them, I think that makes sense...
